my obsession with jrat zero waste is unreal. sustainable, punk as hell, feminine, grounded in sustainability. we had two outfits to shoot and wanted to give each room to move while also showcasing the scrappy details and bold rhythmic energy that designer janelle abbott infuses into her pieces. we were able to incorporate a re-used pasteup backdrop from pride, closing the loop on acknowledging a garment’s history, while repurposing it into something new. every scrap of fabric holds a story of the labor, water, and intention inherent in its creation. these garments bear witness to our stories (and look so fucking cool while they do it).
